UnderTorque Terms of Use v1.1
1. Purpose of UnderTorque
UnderTorque is a technician-focused diagnostic knowledge platform. It is intended for approved users to record and share their own diagnostic observations, test results, repair learning, tips and workshop knowledge.
2. Your responsibility for content
By creating, uploading, posting, sharing or submitting any report, tip, attachment, image, document, comment or other content on UnderTorque, you confirm that:
- the content is your own original work, or you have all necessary permission, authority, licence or legal right to submit and share it;
- the content is written in your own words and is not copied directly from a manufacturer document, employer document, dealer system, warranty report, workshop manual, training material or third-party source unless you are legally entitled and expressly authorised to do so;
- the content does not contain confidential, proprietary, commercially sensitive or restricted information belonging to a manufacturer, dealer group, employer, garage, customer, supplier, software provider, training provider or any other third party;
- the content does not reproduce, upload, quote, screenshot, republish or distribute manufacturer technical literature, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, workshop manuals, diagnostic procedures, warranty documents, internal reports, dealer communications, training material, software data or any other protected or restricted material without permission;
- where you create or share content on behalf of a garage, employer, dealer group or other organisation, you have obtained the necessary permission from that organisation and from any relevant information owner before sharing that content through UnderTorque;
- the content does not include customer personal data, vehicle owner details, registration numbers, VINs, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, finance details, complaint records, health information or anything else that could identify a customer or individual unless you have a lawful basis and explicit authority to include it;
- the content does not breach any employment contract, confidentiality agreement, non-disclosure agreement, manufacturer agreement, dealer agreement, franchise agreement, warranty policy, data protection obligation, intellectual property right or other legal duty that applies to you;
- the content is not knowingly inaccurate, misleading, unsafe, unlawful, defamatory, malicious, discriminatory, abusive or otherwise inappropriate.
3. Confidential information, proprietary information and trade secrets
Users must not submit or share confidential information, proprietary information, trade secrets, restricted service information, non-public manufacturer information, internal dealer group information, protected repair data or any other information they do not own or are not authorised to share.
If in doubt, do not upload it, do not copy it and do not share it.
UnderTorque is for your own diagnostic learning and wording. It is not a place to copy manufacturer material, employer documents, customer records, internal reports or third-party intellectual property.
4. Sharing on behalf of a garage or employer
If you create a report or tip because of work carried out for a garage, employer, dealer group, customer or other organisation, you are responsible for making sure you are allowed to record and share that information.
If the information belongs to the garage, employer, dealer group or another person, you must obtain permission before sharing it with other users, other garages or the wider UnderTorque platform.
UnderTorque is not responsible if a user shares information without the permission of the information owner, employer, garage, manufacturer, customer or any other third party.
5. No verification by UnderTorque
UnderTorque does not verify ownership, permission, legal clearance, confidentiality status, technical accuracy, safety or completeness of user-submitted content before it is created, uploaded, shared or relied upon.
You remain responsible for the content you create, upload, submit or share, and for any decision to share it with another user, garage, group or organisation.
6. Diagnostic information and no professional warranty
Reports, tips and technical information on UnderTorque are user-generated and are provided for knowledge-sharing, learning and diagnostic reference only.
UnderTorque does not guarantee that any report, tip, test method, repair method, diagnosis, wiring interpretation, software recommendation, calibration advice or other technical information is accurate, complete, current, safe, suitable for a particular vehicle, or approved by any manufacturer.
Users must apply their own professional judgement, follow applicable safety procedures, use official repair information where required, and comply with any manufacturer, employer, legal, warranty and health and safety requirements before acting on information found on UnderTorque.
7. Liability and consequences of misuse
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UnderTorque is not responsible for any loss, claim, dispute, breach, damage, disciplinary action, legal action, commercial consequence or other liability arising from:
- content submitted, copied, uploaded, shared or relied upon without proper permission, authority or legal right;
- content that is inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, unsafe or unsuitable;
- incorrect diagnosis, failed repairs, unnecessary parts, vehicle damage, warranty rejection, customer disputes, loss of earnings or business interruption;
- breach of confidentiality, intellectual property, manufacturer, employer, dealer, franchise, warranty, contract or data protection obligations by a user;
- a user's decision to share content privately, with another person, with a garage, through a sharing rule or by any other platform feature.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Access control and sharing features
UnderTorque provides private, garage, direct person-sharing and rule-based sharing features to help users control who can see their content. These tools do not remove the user's responsibility to check that they are allowed to share the information.
Before using sharing rules or applying a rule to existing reports or tips, users must make sure they have the right to share all matching content.
9. Content removal and investigation
UnderTorque may restrict, hide, remove, investigate or delete content or accounts if content appears to be inaccurate, unsafe, unlawful, confidential, copied, infringing, unauthorised, in breach of these terms, or harmful to the platform or its users.
If you believe content infringes your rights, contains confidential information, includes personal data, or has been shared without permission, contact the site administrator so it can be reviewed.
10. Account approval and misuse
Access to UnderTorque is manually approved and may be declined, restricted, suspended or removed if the platform is misused, if information provided during signup is inaccurate, or if a user breaches these terms.
11. Policy updates
If these Terms of Use are updated, users may be asked to review and accept the new version before continuing to use the platform.
